Government troops caused panic amongst the already traumatized displaced after a battle broke out between two groups of troops after a soldier tried to rape a camp resident. Tutsi-led rebels tightened their hold on newly seized swaths of eastern Congo which has once again seen tens of thousands of frightened civilians hitting the road into and out of makeshift refugee camps throughout the east of the country.
