Liberian president to appear on Oprah Winfrey show in US

Monrovia- Liberian President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf left Monday for the United States where, among other dates, she is to appear on the Oprah Winfrey television show to try to generate donations for the war-battered country.
A presidential mansion press statement Monday said the Liberian leader will appear on the show along with Queen Noor of Jordan.
Johnson-Sirleaf is travelling with a young Liberian girl, Musu Garteem who lost her arm during Liberia's brutal civil conflict, to set help generate publicity to try to mobilize resources for some of the basic social needs of the country, especially the drive to promote girls'education.
The award-winning Oprah Winfrey show is one of the most widely- watched daytime television talk shows in the United States, reaching an audience of tens of millions.
