As an avid 'elephant rightist' who welcomes IFAW's contribution to contraversial elephant matters, I am really tired of reading 'empty' public satements from Jason Bell Leask - The long-awaited regulations set in place by minister Van Schalkwyk to protect elephant orphans from exploitation for commercial purposes is a milestone achieved. I would welcome a positive contribution from Mr Jason Bell Leask - 'we believe this will be difficult if not impossible'....
I challenge Mr Jason Bell Leask to contribute positively towards the intended regulation by offering solutions to closing the percieved loop-holes and to stop making empty public statements which does nothing but fuel unnecessary negative perceptions.
The draft is 'gem' and the result of hard campaigning from animal rightists over many years and I'd like to see a positive contribution from IFAW who claim to be at the forefront on elephant rights.
For the most people is such a hunting a crime, a crime to nature and a crime to mankind.
For belgian justice it is a crime to speak about it.
Two people are put before court, one even in less than 12 hours, with no layer or other rights. Their crime, telling witch firm support this hunting.
Penalty asked is at least 10.000 euro and a lot more if they do it again.
