At least 50 die as boat capsizes off Sierra Leone coast

Freetown/Nairobi - At least 50 people have died and 148 are missing after a boat capsized off the northern coast of Sierra Leone, sources said Friday.
'Two hundred people were on board the boat when the accident happened. Two persons were rescued and all the others were missing at sea. 50 were pronounced dead and 148 are still missing,' said Samuel Conteh, senior news editor with the New Citizen newspaper in the capital Freetown.
A maritime official confirmed the accident, which occurred Thursday morning, and said investigators were on the scene.
