Algerian military kills 10 suspected terrorists
Sep 30, 2007, 11:37 GMT
Algiers/Paris - The Algerian military has killed 10 suspected terrorists, Algerian media reported on Sunday.
One of them was said to be the mastermind of a suicide attack on barracks three weeks ago, which killed around 30 people, according to the reports.
Military operations against the Islamist group, which calls itself al-Qaeda in Maghreb, already started on Thursday.
Over the past few months, Algeria has seen a number of suicide attacks the terrorist group has claimed responsibility for.
Al-Qaeda in Maghreb is the successor organization of the Islamist Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC).
The Algerian military estimates the group to be around 500-strong and has several times announced its imminent fall.
