Egypt says political settlement needed for justice, unity in Sudan

Cairo - Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit said Thursday that justice in Sudan would be achieved through 'political settlement that would aim at stopping the fight and uniting Sudan.'
Abul Gheit made his comments during a press conference after his joint meeting with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammad al-Sabah who has signed several business agreements with Egypt, reported the Middle East News Agency (MENA).
'The accusation of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir is very dangerous and the prosecutor should not have let things go so far,' said Abul Ghiet.
The ICC's prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo had requested earlier this week an arrest warrant for al-Bashir and accused him of crimes against humanity and acts of genocide in Darfur.
'We expect that the international community would be careful and work for providing stability and look for justice and truth in Sudan,' the Egyptian official said.
Abul Ghiet said he expects Arab Foreign ministers to take a clearer stance towards the accusation in their next meeting.
