Over 3,000 golden oldies expected at Pretoria vintage car expo
Jul 31, 2009, 9:12 GMT
Johannesburg - Over 3,000 golden oldies from across South Africa will be chugging along to Africa's biggest exhibition of vintage cars and motorcycles in Pretoria this weekend.
Collectors of classic and vintage vehicles from more than 100 motor clubs across the country will be showing off their buffed beauties at the annual Cars in the Park exhibition in Pretoria's Zwartkops raceway on Sunday.
All vehicles built before 1987 are considered classics for the purposes of the event and all must be driven to the park.
An exception is being made for the Methusaleh among them - a 1904 Cadillac, which is allowed hitch a lift aboard a trailer.
South Africa has a rich fleet of well-maintained vintage cars, ranging from American cruisers to pre-war British roadstars and Italian concept cars.
They are increasingly being sought after by foreign collectors, especially in the United States.
