Dec 28, 2009, 19:28 GMT
Sana'a, Yemen - Somali pirates have attacked and seized a Yemeni cargo ship with 16 crewmen on board and taken it to Somali waters, Yemen's Interior Ministry reported on Monday.
The pirates seized the vessel, al-Mahmoud 2, in international waters in the Gulf of Aden and held its 15 Yemeni crewmen and their captain hostage, the ministry said, citing the Coastguard Authority.
It said the ship's owner notified the coastguards about the attack after it left the southern port of Aden on December 18.
