Semenya not to compete at African championships
Jul 11, 2010, 16:44 GMT
Johannesburg - Caster Semenya will not compete at the African athletics championships later this month but rather delay her big event return to the Commonwealth Games in October, the South Africa athletics federation said on Sunday.
The world 800 metres champion Semenya, 19, was cleared to run again by the ruling body IAAF on Tuesday after a gender controversy.
Semenya has not run since her world title in Berlin in August 2009. The African championships in Nairobi appear to come too early for her, with the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi a more realistic target in three months time.
However, Semenya is set to return to the track on Thursday at a small meet in Finland, according to her management earlier in the week.
