Death toll from illegal alcohol in Kenyan slum rises to 19

Nairobi - The number of people who have died after drinking illegal alcohol in a Kenyan slum rose to 19 on Tuesday, reports said.
'We have 19 bodies here, seventeen were brought in between Sunday night and Monday while two were brought here Tuesday morning,' an official at the city mortuary in Nairobi told Capital FM.
Police said the illegal drink - known locally as Chang'aa, which means 'kill me quick' - was brewed at a still in the Kibera slum and contained methanol, which is used as a solvent or in anti-freeze.
Deaths from such drinks are common in East Africa, where the cost of legal alcohol is prohibitive for many poor people.
