Paris - Thirteen more demonstrators were shot dead in Tunisia's capital Tunis on Thursday night, despite President Zine el- Abidine Ben Ali promising an end to the use by police of live bullets on protestors, hospital sources said.
A medical source at Charles Nicolle hospital in central Tunis told the German Press Agency dpa that the hospital had received the bodies of 10 people who had been shot Thursday night as the rioting continued in residential areas despite the city being under curfew.
Another medical source at Marsa hospital in the northern suburbs of the city confirmed three dead after riots overnight in that area, also from gunshots.
It was not possible to get official confirmation of the deaths.
