New York - United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki moon condemned the suicide attack on Friday at his organisation's offices in the Nigerian capital Abuja.
Ban confirmed that a number of people had died, but in a statement said he did not yet have a confirmed figure.
'This was an assault on those who devote their lives to helping others. We condemn this terrible act, utterly,' the statement said, offering Ban's condolences to the victims' families.
The UN chief said he was set to talk later in the day with Nigerian President Goodluck Johnathan. Also, the UN was to send several high ranking officials to the country, including a security expert, to investigate.
