Jan 20, 2012, 18:37 GMT
Monrovia/Abuja - Multiple blasts hit the northern Nigerian city of Kano Friday afternoon, Nigerian television reported.
One blast hit the police headquarters in Kano, Nigeria's second largest city.
Witnesses said they heard a further explosion in the area of Marhaba, in the vicinity of another police station and an immigration office.
A witness who introduced himself as Michael said he heard the blast at the police headquarters and saw smoke and people on the ground.
He said medics arrived, but did not comment on the number of casualties.
It was not immediately clear what had caused the explosion and if there were any deaths.
Kano, with a largely Muslim population, has been hit by a series of attacks linked to the radical Islamist group Boko Harasm in recent months.
