Boko Haram spokesman under arrest in Nigerian capital (correction)
Feb 2, 2012, 9:25 GMT
Dakar/Abuja - A spokesman of radical Islamist group Boko Haram was flown to Abuja for questioning Thursday, a day after being arrested, Nigerian media reported.
Abul Qaqa was arrested late Wednesday in Maiduguri, where the group is headquartered. A member of the group confirmed the arrest in a telephone conversation with Nigerian newspaper Vanguard.
'I called to tell you that security agencies have arrested one of our scholars, Qaqa,' he said.
The newspaper reported that Qaqa had been tracked down by security forces using GPS technology.
Qaqa, the main spokesman for Boko Haram, had previously confirmed that the group was behind recent blasts in the northern city of Kano and Christmas Day, 2011, bombings that together killed at least 250 people.
