Blast kills policeman in Nigeria's Kaduna
Feb 14, 2012, 13:53 GMT
Abuja - An explosion on Tuesday in a residential area in the north-central Nigerian city of Kaduna killed a policeman, witnesses and local media said.
The blast, barely a week after a suicide bomber targeted military buildings in the same city, occured in the densly populated area of Ungwar-Sarki.
The bomb exploded when the policeman attempted to defuse it.
Witnesses who spoke to dpa by telephone said they saw a military helicopter on patrol after the blast.
'There were multiple blasts coming from the area, which is about one kilometre from where I was,' said Mohammed Mamoh. 'Thick smoke clouded the vicinity. I ran for my dear life,' he said.
The area is home to schools, banks and business centres.
