Decapitation wave in Mexican state of Michoacan
Oct 8, 2006, 2:11 GMT
Mexico City - The Mexican state of Michoacan has seen at least 15 people murdered and decapitated over the last several weeks, with the most recent deaths discovered on Saturday.
The police in the area west of Mexico City said on Saturday that two severed human heads were found in the city of Zitacuro. The bodies were discovered several hours later.
Since the beginning of September, police have uncovered 13 other such cases, and they have attributed the crimes to drug gangs.
The most recent victims were found in front of an automobile dealer, with the message 'We, the Michoacan family, are not extortionists. I expect a call.'
In an especially brutal attack, a group of armed men threw five bloody heads on the dance floor of a bar in Uruapan on September 6.
