Dec 8, 2006, 17:45 GMT
Mexico City - At least two prisoners were killed on Friday during a prison revolt in the Mexican state of Cancun, in which 100 inmates managed to escaped.
Authorities said 40 of those inmates had been recaptured and the police have brought part of the prison back under their control. A portion of the prison remains under the control of about 200 of the 1,000 total prisoners.
The revolt came in response to the planned transfer of 50 inmates to the city of Chetumal about 380 kilometres from Cancun.
