Ipanema girl to show less skin, more fabric, on Brazil beaches
Jun 19, 2007, 16:47 GMT
Sao Paulo - Brazilian beauties will from now on show less skin on the beach than they have so far - at least if they use the swimwear which has been shown in the Sao Paulo Fashion Week, which ends Tuesday.
Many producers of bathing suits presented to the public in Brazil's financial metropolis an unusual amount of fabric.
'The one-piece suit, relegated (in Brazil) for decades, is back in, and coral colours dominate,' experts said of the new trend.
Moreover, if they follow the dictates of fashion gurus, sun-lovers will show less of their backsides next season even if they choose a bikini. Even the Brazilian favourite with the revealing name Poko Pano (little fabric) showed most models on the catwalk with unusual cover.
The brand Salinas, with a growing presence on international markets, showed a collection with patterns inspired in the 1930s. In her collection, Lenny Niemeyer flirted with architectural themes.
The Sao Paulo Fashion Week is the most important show of its kind in Latin America. It also showed beautiful filigree dresses - made of delicate fabrics, but with strong, black-and-white patterns and with clear cuts.
