Man bitten by beggar suffers severe wounds
Sep 26, 2007, 21:14 GMT
Bogota - A beggar severely injured a peasant who refused to give him money Wednesday in a Colombian village near Cartagena de Indias.
The peasant, 62, refused to give the attacker, 27, a 1,000-peso bill, equivalent to 49 cents. The angry beggar then bit the other man several times in multiple parts of his body.
Doctors at a hospital in Cartagena de Indias said they had to give the victim 27 stitches on his face, six on his penis and two on his leg.
Several people attempted to lynch the attacker, who was eventually arrested by police.
The victim is recovering, but will have to wait several days before doctors can reconstruct the index finger and the thumb on his right hand, which were destroyed in the attack.
