Sleeping passenger beheaded on bus

Washington - A passenger was repeatedly stabbed and then beheaded on a Greyhound Canada bus as horrified travellers watched helplessly, a witness told media Thursday.
The victim was sleeping with his head against the window, when he was attacked by the man sitting beside him.
'There was a blood-curdling scream. I was just reading my book, and all of a sudden I heard it,' Garnet Caton, who was sitting in front of the two men, told CNN.
'It was like something between a dog howling and a baby crying. I don't think it will leave me for a while,' said Canton, who shouted out to the 37 passengers on board to leave the bus.
He said the assailant carried a large hunting knife, and continued stabbing his seatmate as the others fled the bus and waited for police on the highway.
Caton claims to have helped bar the bus door so the attacker couldn't escape.
After the beheading, the attacker 'calmly walks up to the front with the head in his hand and the knife and just calmly stares at us and drops the head right in front of us,' Caton told CNN.
'There was no rage in him. It was just like he was a robot or something.'
The gruesome murder took place late Wednesday west of Portage la Prairie in Manitoba, but a standoff between the attacker and police lasted into early Thursday. He was eventually taken into custody.
The bus was traveling along the Trans-Canada highway from Edmonton to Winnipeg and was about 45 minutes from its destination when the attack occurred.

Muslims are not in hiding. Fundamentalists are. One in five people on the planet are Muslims. Feeling proud of your hatred does nothing to help the rest of the world destroy the fundamentalists. It is a vicious cycle - 17 of 19 of the terrorists were Saudis, yet the USA government has its head conveniently up its own behind on Saudi treatment of its own citizens, including the religious police that daily terrorize Saudi residents - yet the USA is strangely silent. It is really not so strange, there are corporate scum getting rich, so it is okay to have those terrorists in power (the Saud family). What's not okay is the 'other' Muslims, the ones that can't make the corporate terrorists in the USA wealthy, therefore they are bad. I care nothing about what Christians and Muslims believe, it is separate from me. I tolerate both of them equally, since they both exist in large numbers. I do agree - it was a horrible thing that happened, by a clearly crazy person. I do hope that the family and friends of the deceased are made as comfortable as possible during this shoah.

Your last post was well said. There are other people deserving of kindness and compassion and comfort - All of the witnesses. How mentally scarred are they going to be? This was a horrifying event. They have my deepest sympathy. I think I know a little bit about what they're going through as I suffer from a severe form of PTSD as a result of multiple violent near-death experiences. All of them will carry it with them for the rest of their lives.
Imagine if the culprit were a muslim indeed ?Then the whole event would have been used to discredit islam .Then suddenly the obvious madness of the perpetrator would have been of no relevance,his religion would be thrown in .Unlike with christian murderers you see.Two religions,two different standards applied .Perhaps time to ponder a bit on that too.

In Canada, in the 1950's a 14 year old child was sentenced to hang for murder. He spent most of his life in prison after the sentence was commuted to life in prison. He has since been cleared of the crime. The cops were too lazy, too incompetant to look for the real killer. The Crown Attorney withheld evidence from the defence. Justice has been denied to the victim, her family and to Steven Truscott, whose life has been ruined. No, the dangers of the death penalty are too great, and it will not deter the deranged from doing their deeds. They won't do it again, but it won't bring the victim back. Also, anybody who has been to an execution, unless they are as mentally disturbed as the condemned, comes away shaken to their very core with the brutality of a state sponsored murder. The line at whether or not this was a crime connected with religion was drawn by the killer himself. Just stabbing this young man to death in itself is extremely tragic but beheading crossed over to the actions we see happening in many nations around the world. Beheadings in Canada and America are not the norm are they? People in these two nations are shot, stabbed, run over, beaten to death everyday. Those actions alone do not throw up any red flags. Beheadings throw up gigantic red flags do they not?

CBC has stated this guy was a muslim and he told the Canadian police that his motivation was the koran. The sentence was deleted from the article a short time later.
Sounds like the information came from the police and an editor was a little slow on the PC uptake.

Too bad the men in Canada have been rendered impotent!! This is exactly the reason why I support concealed carry. There was no way short of putting a bullet in the killers head to stop this type of insanity. Of course, the liberals will say that other people would have been hurt, wild west shootouts blah, blah, blah. That 'other' person that would have hurt was the killer!!
Why are the police not identifing the killer? Could it be that this moron is a muslim?? Being PC is certainly more important than telling the truth.
