Canada's Harper vows to fight no-confidence vote
Dec 4, 2008, 12:50 GMT
Ottawa - Prime Minister Stephen Harper Wednesday appealed to Canadians to support his minority government and vowed to fight a no-confidence vote in parliament by the opposition.
In a nationally-televised address Harper accused the opposition on Wednesday evening of wanting to overturn the results of the latest general elections only seven weeks after the poll.
Canada's government would fight its opponents by all means at its disposal to prevent them from forming a coalition government to replace his own, Harper said.
'Tonight, I pledge to you that Canada's government will use every legal means at our disposal to protect our democracy, protect our economy and to protect Canada,' he said.
The opposition leftist NDP, the Liberals and the separatist Bloc Quebecois on Monday announced plans to form a power-sharing coalition to replace Harper's minority government as early as next week.
The opposition accuses Harper of failing to propose measures to stimulate the Canadian economy.
Harper warned against any government including the separatists. 'Canada's government cannot enter into a power-sharing coalition with a separatist party at a time of global insecurity,' he said. 'Canada's government must stand unequivocally for keeping the country together.'
Harper's conservatives strengthened their position in the October 14 snap election, but failed to gain an absolute majority.

1 raise basic tax deduction to 12000 or 16000
2 build bridges roads and sewage systems
3 dont bail out the paper money mongers
4 make declaring bankruspy easy as opposed to the current song and dance, this should keep the money lenders on their toes, and be more vigilent on who they lend money.
5 make all rental housing income tax free, thus spuring on a rental housing construction boom the country needs so badly
6 raise GST to 10percent(its the fairest tax and in conjuction with the raised basic tax deduction) the rich are the only ones to profit from a GST cut.

Must help the Franco Canadians get back into power so that this anglo canadian current prime minister can go back to hell.
It is in CHINA's best interest NOT to have this litle idiot stay on to power in Canada.
Under the past Franco Canadian prime ministers CHINA was developing excellent relations with Canada, a small country compared to CHINA.
So CHINESE everywhere, especially in Canada and CHINA, should make sure that the right regime gets back into power in Canada.
