Venezuela's President Chavez visits Fidel twice
Feb 22, 2009, 1:44 GMT
Havana - In an unscheduled trip to Cuba, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez met twice with ailing revolutionary leader Fidel Castro, Cuban television reported Saturday.
The visit was described as a working visit by Chavez, who was met Friday at the airport by Fidel's brother, President Raul Castro, and other members of the Cuban leadership.
The visit had not been officially announced beforehand.
Cuban television reported that Chavez immediately after his arrival went to visit Fidel, who is staying at a secret place since illness forced him to step back two and a half years ago.
Chavez visited Fidel, 82, a second time in the afternoon. They discussed bilateral relations and the international situation, the report said.
