Governing party loses Mexico elections

Mexico City - Mexico's governing National Action Party lost Sunday's elections, gaining around 27 per cent of the vote, according to initial figures on Sunday.
The Institutional Revolutionary Party, long the dominant force in Mexican politics, received approximately 35 per cent of the vote, the election authorities said. The Party of the Democratic Revolution came third.
The turnout in the election was 43 per cent, the authorities said.
Elections to the Chamber of Representatives take place every three years.
