Aug 5, 2009, 22:20 GMT
Mexico City - Following Andres and Carlos, Felicia emerged Wednesday as the third hurricane of the year on the eastern Pacific.
The Miami-based National Hurricane Centre (NHC) said Felicia - with wind speeds of nearly 205 kilometres per hour and higher gusts - continued to intensify.
However, it was almost 2,300 kilometres off the southern tip of Mexico's Baja California and moving toward the northwest and might not make landfall.
