Oct 30, 2009, 9:40 GMT
Islamabad - United States Secretary of State Hilary Rodham Clinton Friday congratulated the people of Honduras on an agreement aimed at ending the Central American nation's political crisis.
Clinton told reporters in Islamabad, where she is visiting, that Manuel Zelaya, who was ousted in a military coup in June, and Roberto Micheletti, who replaced him, had signed the deal.
'I want to congratulate the people of Honduras as well as President Zelaya and Mr Micheletti for reaching an historic agreement,' said Clinton.
Under the deal both the leaders agreed on holding elections on November 29.
Clinton promised US support for fair and free elections that will 'realize the full return of democracy and a better future for the Honduran people.'
