Feb 19, 2010, 21:24 GMT
Mexico City - Unidentified attackers stole a truck carrying 18 tonnes of explosives in northern Mexico, Mexican media reported Friday.
Police found the truck cabin on a road linking the northern Mexican cities of Saltillo and Monterrey, but the trailer with the load was missing, according to preliminary reports citing Nuevo Leon Public Security Minister Carlos Jauregui.
The explosives were reportedly being taken to the Mexican city of Nuevo Laredo, on the US border. There was no immediate indication of the use that was to be made of the stolen material.
Amid great secrecy from the authorities, Mexican media reported that the driver and his co-pilot were missing and that the truck cabin appeared to have been hit by several bullets.
