Mar 18, 2010, 14:51 GMT
Lima - The driver of an armoured car in Peru made off with 2 million soles (701,900 dollars) in cash after drugging his two colleagues, media reports said.
Police found the two guards locked in the truck and in a deep sleep after the crime Wednesday in Chorrillos in the central coastal province of Lima.
The suspect, identified as Felix Jesus Luciano Cuenca, 38, stands accused of giving his colleagues soft drinks mixed with sleeping medication as the three men were delivering cash for use in automated teller machines, police said.
The whereabouts of Luciano Cuenca and the money were unknown.
Luciano Cuenca's employer expressed surprise at the theft, saying he had been a trusted employee at the company for 10 years.
