Motorcycle gang kills five in Sao Paulo
May 12, 2010, 15:35 GMT
Sao Paulo - Five people were killed by an apparent motorcycle gang in northern Sao Paulo as they slept on the street, the authorities confirmed Tuesday.
Less than 24 hours earlier, six others were killed in a house in the nearby city of Sao Bernardo do Campo.
A survivor of Tuesday's massacre told Brazilian television that the group of homeless people was attacked by an armed squadron of five people who arrived at the site on motorcycles and managed to escape.
'It was not the police. These guys were shooting by the time they arrived, and I tried to hide. When I returned, I saw that there were five dead, and the motorcycles were there, abandoned,' said the man, who refuse to give his name.
In the early hours of Monday, six people were killed and three others were injured in Sao Bernardo do Campo, in a similar attack: three men with guns got out of a car, broke into a house and shot at nine people who were inside.
