Sep 16, 2010, 10:20 GMT
Lima - Police seized almost two tonnes of cocaine in the southern Peruvian province of Arequipa, according to media reports Wednesday.
Six alleged leaders of the cartel Los Pasteleros were reportedly arrested in the operation Monday, along with 20 further members of the criminal organization.
Police raided three safe houses where the drug traffickers allegedly processed and stored drugs. The cocaine was packed in bricks, ready to be sold.
Peru is the world's second-largest producer of cocaine, after Colombia.
