Lima - Peruvian police forcefully ended a seven-hour hostage situation in a bank in the capital city on friday, shooting the hostage taker and freeing about 15 hostages.
Two of the hostages had minor injuries, journalists covering the incident reported.
The culprit had attempted to rob the bank, located in a main business and shopping center. As he ran into trouble, he seized five bank employees and ten customers.
Police tried to negotiate a peaceful end, until they had an opportunity to intervene. A sharpshooter killed the criminal with a shot into the head, national media reported.
