Authorities seize 12 tonnes of cocaine in Colombian port

Bogota - Colombian authorities seized 12 tonnes of cocaine in a container in the port of Cartagena de Indias, from where the drugs were apparently waiting for transport to Veracruz, Mexico.
Officers of the Colombian Navy, the anti-narcotics police and the public prosecutor's office found the cocaine hidden among a load of panela, a food made with sugar cane that is very popular in Colombia.
The Navy said the load had left from the southwestern Colombian city of Cali a few days earlier.
In a separate incident, Colombian police seized 2.8 million dollars in cash in Bogota's Eldorado airport. The cash was seized from a Mexican citizen who was trying to enter the country, and it is believed to be the payment for a load of cocaine that was previously sent to the Sinaloa drug cartel.
