Bus accident leaves 28 dead in Bolivia
Jun 27, 2011, 18:48 GMT
La Paz - At least 28 people died and another 10 were injured in Bolivia when the bus they were travelling in fell down a 200-metre ravine, police said Monday.
The accident happened Sunday, as the bus was approaching the southern town of Tarija from Villazon, on the Argentine border.
The bus company blamed the poor state of the road and the presence of a dense fog. However, public prosecutors also suspected a mistake made by the driver, who survived the accident, and slammed the company for allegedly filling the vehicle beyond its capacity.
Six of the injured were in very serious condition, a hospital in Tarija said.
