Two journalists found dead in Mexican capital
Sep 2, 2011, 2:58 GMT
Mexico City - The bodies of two female journalists have been found in Mexico City, a newspaper said late Thursday, bringing the total number of reporters killed in the country this year to eight.
The bodies were found earlier in the day with their hands and feet bound in a park in the city, the newspaper Contralinea, which employed one of them, said in a statement.
The other victim worked for television broadcaster Televisa, it said.
Contralinea identified the two journalists as Ana Maria Marcela Yarce Viveros and Rocio Gonzalez Trapaga.
Mexico has become increasingly dangerous for members of the press, with the Paris-based group Reporters Without Borders ranking it 136th in the world for press freedom, out of 178 countries.
Many of the reporters killed have been investigating widespread organized crime, and its connections with local politicians and authorities.
