Rina weakens to tropical storm as it approaches Mexico
Oct 28, 2011, 2:36 GMT
Mexico City - The Rina storm system lost its hurricane rating Thursday as it weakened on its way to Mexico's Yucatan peninsula.
Rina was now classified as a tropical storm, headed toward Cozumel on Mexico's east coast with wind speeds of 95 kilometres per hour, the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Florida, said.
'Rina could become a tropical depression as early as Friday,' the centre said Thursday evening.
Rina is the 18th named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season, which officially ends on November 30.
