Argentina, Brazil to play friendly in New Jersey
Jan 10, 2012, 20:07 GMT
Buenos Aires - Argentina is to play its arch-rival, Brazil, on June 9 in a friendly match in the US state of New Jersey, the Argentine Football Association (AFA) said Tuesday on its website.
The match will take place at MetLife Stadium, in East Rutherford, home to the NFL's New York Jets and the New York Giants.
For Argentina, it will be good preparation for the ongoing South American qualifiers for the Brazil 2014 World Cup. Brazil, as the host team, has already qualified.
Both Argentina and Brazil have played friendlies at MetLife Stadium in recent years, in both cases against the United States.
AFA added that Argentina is to play a friendly against Saudi Arabia in Riyadh on November 14. The team is also to play friendlies against Switzerland, on February 29 in Bern, and against Germany, on August 2012, at a yet unconfirmed venue.
