Jan 12, 2012, 18:15 GMT
Rio de Janeiro - Brazil, the hosts of the 2014 World Cup, are to play five friendly matches in the first half of this year, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) said Thursday.
Brazil, the winners of a record five editions of the World Cup, are to clash with Bosnia-Herzegovina on February 28 in Switzerland, and with Denmark on May 26 in Hamburg, Germany.
They are to play the United States on May 30 or 31 in either Boston or Washington, the CBF said. On June 3 they are to tackle Mexico in Dallas, and on June 9 they are set to play Argentina in New Jersey.
In July and August in London 2012, Brazil will seek to win the Olympic gold medal in football, which they have never won.
As the hosts of the upcoming World Cup, they are exempt from playing the qualifiers, and their friendly game schedule constitutes crucial preparation for the tournament that the football-crazy nation longs to win at home.
