Argentine president to return to work after cancer scare
Jan 23, 2012, 19:18 GMT
Buenos Aires - Argentine President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner is set to return to work Wednesday, after a 20-day leave in which she underwent surgery for suspected thyroid cancer that was found to be benign.
Vice President Amado Boudou, who has stood in for Fernandez de Kirchner in recent weeks, said Monday that he expects her back 'at full strength.'
Fernandez de Kirchner, 58, was diagnosed with thyroid cancer on December 22. She had her thyroid gland removed on January 4, but later examination of the gland ruled out cancer.
