SIDEBAR: Romney, Gingrich disagree on fate of Castro's soul
Jan 24, 2012, 5:53 GMT
Washington - The frontrunners in the US Republican Party race for the presidential nomination even disagreed about Fidel Castro's soul in their debate Monday night.
Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich faced off in Tampa, Florida, which will hold the next primary vote on January 31 and where the issue of Cuba dominates politics.
The moderator posed a question about the possible influx of Cubans to the United States, an issue that often comes up when talk turns to what will happen when the ageing former leader of the communist country off Florida dies.
'You thank heavens that Fidel Castro has returned to his maker,' Romney quipped.
Not so, Gingrich answered: 'I don't think that Fidel's going to meet his maker - I think he's going to go to the other place.'
