Jan 30, 2012, 17:59 GMT
Caracas - Mexico's Ambassador to Venezuela, Carlos Pujalte, was released Monday after being kidnapped in Caracas, the Embassy said.
Pujalte is 'well' despite the ordeal, said Embassy spokesman Fernando Godinez. He was kidnapped late Sunday along with his wife, who was also safe, and both testified to police about what happened.
Pujalte has been Mexican ambassador to Venezuela since 2010.
Venezuelan authorities did not immediately comment on the kidnapping.
In November, Chilean Consul in Caracas Juan Carlos Fernandez was also kidnapped. Held for a few hours, he was beaten up before being released by his captors.
