Mexican Navy rescues 6 Cuban migrants in Caribbean
Feb 6, 2012, 21:54 GMT
Mexico City - The Mexican Navy rescued six Cuban migrants who were adrift in the Caribbean off Isla Mujeres, near the resort city of Cancun, the Navy Ministry said Monday.
The Cuban 'balseros' were located by authorities Sunday, after another boat reported their situation. The six were mildly dehydrated.
The migrants, all of them men ages 23-33, said they had left Cuba on January 25 and intended to travel to Honduras, the Navy said.
Mexican authorities had yet to decide whether to send them back to Cuba.
