Taipei - Bad luck drove a Taiwan man to commit suicide after his car was hit by other cars three times in two days, police said on Sunday.
Chang Pao-tang, 31, a doctor in Taichung County, central Taiwan, committed suicide by jumping into a river Saturday after having been involved in three car accidents, local police told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa by phone.
On Thursday evening, Chang's car was hit by another, causing only slight damage.
On Friday morning, Chang was hit again, causing serious damage to his car. Chang sent his car to a repair shop for repair.
On Friday afternoon, Chang borrowed his aunt's car and went out. Again his car was hit by another car. Chang had to send his aunt's car, which was badly damaged, to a repair shop for repair.
'The three accidents and the payment for repairing the cars made Chang believe he was followed by bad luck. So on Saturday, he jumped into the Tatu River,' a policeman said.
Chang was married with two small children. His family members told police that Chang has been depressed and frustrated recently because of his bad luck and they believed he committed suicide because of that.
