Australian drunk attacks shark
Feb 16, 2007, 4:27 GMT
Sydney - Australian Phillip Kerkhof blamed vodka for luring him into a wrestling match with a 1.3-metre shark at Louth Bay on South Australia's Eyre Peninsula.
'It's not something I'd recommend,' Kerkhof told national broadcaster ABC on Friday. 'When I sobered up and thought about it I said 'I'm a bit of an idiot doing it.''
Kerkhof jumped in and caught the shark with his bare hands after it began nibbling at bait left by anglers going after squid from their vantage point on the Louth Bay jetty.
'I just snuck up behind him and eventually I went for the big grab and I fluked it and got him,' Kerkhof said of the incident on Thursday. 'He's just thrashing around in the water but then he was turning around to try and bite me.'

A nation that would produce an individual like this guy has my undying respect and admiration! You'd never hear about a Frenchman doing something like this! Good on yer, mate!
Steve Irwin would be proud of you, mate.

What on earth was in the vodka?
It's the shark I feel sorry for, minding it's own business, then BANG....so drunken Aussies leaps on him.
It would've served him right if he lost his 'essentials!'
