Hicks' sentence reduced to nine months: Report (Extra)
Mar 31, 2007, 1:31 GMT
Washington - Australian Guantanamo Bay detainee David Hicks, who plead guilty earlier Friday to supporting the al-Qaeda terrorist network, late Friday received a reduced sentence of nine months, a Florida newspaper reported.
Hicks, 31, admitted to training with al-Qaeda when he was formally convicted Friday of providing material support for terrorists.
The Miami Herald reported that eight senior military officers, who travelled to the Guantanamo US Navy prison for the purpose, passed a seven-year sentence on Hicks.
But afterwards, a senior Pentagon official, who was unnamed, reduced the sentence to nine months, according to the colonel in charge of the proceedings.
Hicks has already spent more than five years in the Guantanamo prison. His is the first case to be tried of the 400 some prisoners still being held at the base since the prison opened more than five years ago.

Hicks is a hero for supporting the counter-terror freedom fight against the Bushist-sodomite regime from hell. Please torture an amerikan and the Aussie-nazi Bush (John 'Homo' Howard) today. Get rid of Homo Howard or pay the 911 price.
