UN envoy meets Aung San Suu Kyi in Yangon (Urgent)
Sep 30, 2007, 9:41 GMT
Yangon - UN special envoy Ibrahim Gambari met with democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi Sunday in Yangon as part of his mission to asses the country's situation in the aftermath of anti-government protests and a brutal crackdown, diplomatic sources said.
Gambari arrived in Yangon on Saturday but was flown to Naypyidaw, the ruling junta's hideaway capital, 350 kilometres north of Yangon.
He returned to Yangon on Sunday and was immediately granted talks with Suu Kyi, who has been under house arrest since May, 2003.
