Singapore hails Japan's support of US-led mission in Afghanistan
Jan 12, 2008, 6:37 GMT
Singapore - Singapore on Saturday welcomed Japan's decision to resume a naval mission supporting US-led efforts in Afghanistan.
'Japan's contribution will help enhance the security of Afghanistan and the entire region,' a Singapore Foreign Ministry statement said.
Japan's ruling coalition on Friday forced a bill through Parliament to revive the mission in the Indian Ocean, clearing the way for Japanese ships to return after a month-long absence.
The decision 'is an important contribution to the global anti- terror campaign,' the city-state ministry said.
