Burmese stowaway raises security concerns at Bangkok airport

Bangkok - The discovery of a Burmese stowaway who boarded a Turkish Airlines flight at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport has raised some serious concerns about the facility's security system, news reports said Friday.
Soe Aung, 27, was discovered Tuesday night in a pre-flight aircraft check sitting alone in the passenger section of a Turkish Airlines flight bound for Istanbul, wearing shorts, a T-shirt, no shoes and lacking a boarding pass, the Matichon newspaper reported.
The suspected stowaway was handed over to police.
The Myanmar national had reportedly entered the Suvarnabhumi Airport compound by getting past three layers of barbed wire fences, and then boarded the Turkish Airlines plane by a ladder.
Thailand's Deputy Transport Minister Sansern Wongchaum has ordered the Airports of Thailand (AOT), the agency that runs Suvarnabhumi, to investigate the case and improve airport security in the future.
According to an initial AOT investigation, Soe Aung had escaped from an immigration jail in Malaysia and made his way to Thailand where he hoped to find passage to a third country.
