German towns back autonomy call by flying Tibetan flag

Berlin - Almost 1,000 German cities and towns hoisted the Tibetan flag Monday to back the mountain territory's demand for cultural autonomy from China, the German Tibetan association said.
The Tibet Initiative Deutschland said larger cities like Stuttgart, Hanover and Mainz, as well as some 920 smaller communities had flown the flag, which shows two snow lions on snow-covered mountain with the sun rising over its peak.
The day was chosen to mark the 49th anniversary of the Tibetan uprising against China, which seized the Himalayan country in 1950- 51.
The Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, who lives in exile in India, is a popular figure in Germany.
Chancellor Angela Merkel's invitation to him to a private exchange of views in her Berlin office in September last year caused a rift in German-Chinese relations that lasted for months but has since been patched over.
The Dalai Lama calls for cultural and religious autonomy for Tibet but not for its independence from China. Beijing rejects his claim to Tibetan leadership.

Don't expect any real help from Germany, she has become a nation of PC cowards. They will not even offer any real help to Nato who protected them from the soviets for years. The Germans should rename themselves from Fatherland to littlegirlland, it more aptly describes their international role for the past 40 yrs.
Leave China alone. You are just jealous of their success and scared about your own economy. Don't pretend you care about Tibet or Tawain. You probably can't even point out those two regions on the map.
I doubt there is much envy around. China as a country is showing some magnificent numbers, but life there is uncomfortable at best, impossible at worst.
I dare any ProChina activist to go to Beijing and preach about freedom there, or live for a moment close to the chinese coal mine.
It is easy to admire the glitter of Pudong, but not many try to see the squalor of workers who build it. I bet ProChina would not be able to afford PC and connection to post comments here if he were to work there.
I don't understand why all of the people(who are from the west)complaining about or making a big deal out of the problem from China...I am an american indian...look at your own history. Find out how you wipe out an entire race and culture of my people...from the east all the way to the west and from the north all the way to the south. Not only here but in other countries too. Can I have my culture back too...can I have my own laws..there use to be a whole lot of us...now it is all white. Can you protest for me??????

If you really were a Native American, you would have called yourself one. Also, if you really were a Native American, you would have been disgusted that even in the 21st Century, a nation like China is perpetrating the evils of the past.
But you supposed 'American Indian' have exposed yourself by your comments to actually be a Chinese propagandist.

Don't just fly flags. Do something more specific:
China's people are oppressed. China has tried to destroyed Tibet's culture.
Other nations like Taiwan are oppressed by China. Other nations are oppressed by dictatorships propped up by China.

Support Taiwan joining the U.N.
Put pressure on China to end its ultra-nationalism, colonialism, militarism, authoritarianism.
It is a danger to the world.
