Rice urges Chinese restraint in Tibet
Mar 20, 2008, 17:45 GMT
Washington - US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice telephoned her Chinese counterpart, Yang Jiechi, to urge restraint on the crackdown on protestors in Tibet, the White House said Thursday.
Rice spoke with Yang Wednesday night 'to very directly reiterate our views and concerns about the situation and told the Chinese that we would urge restraint in dealing with protesters, to refrain from violence,' spokeswoman Dana Perino said.
'We're going to keep a very close eye on what's happening over there,' Perino added. 'We're concerned about innocent people's safety and well-being, especially because we believe that everyone should have the right to peacefully assemble and express their views.'
Thousands of Tibetans have taken to the streets since March 10 to protest Chinese rule to mark the 49th anniversary of a failed uprising.
China has denied using deadly force to quell the unrest despite a report that 18 Tibetans, including an 8-year-old child, were shot dead by paramilitary police in the south-western province of Sichuan.
The United States wants the Chinese government to open dialogue with Tibet's spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, to bring an end to the violence. The Dalai Lama has expressed a willingness to talk to the Chinese but he has been rebuffed.

We chinese never call our african brothers monkeys. YOu have gone too far Teabagten. I know you people are racist. That is why you persue a racial purist ideology very much like shintoism. No offense.
I wonder what would happen if large group of a racial minority charge the wealthy neighborhood of LA such as Bel air and San Marino and threaten to kill or burn the white inhabitants. I wonder what would happen if they turn police car over and openly attacked the LAPD. Do you really think the LAPD and national guard would be as peaceful as the Chinese police with baton. They have guns and alots of them. Sure, you can use the LA riot example, but those people only stayed in southcentral, no threat to rich white folks.

Why Maria Farlow is sooo anti-CHINA and against everything CHINESE?
Supposedly, she is for a bunch of monkey tribes in Darfur. Who are getting free food and water and medicines and think they have the support of the west. No wonder these monkey tribes refuse to sign a peace deal with the legitimate government in Khartoum.
Th REAL reason behind Mia Fart-loo is that she is still peeved at her ex-husband Woody Mellon running away with Sun Li.
But can you blame the dude?
Maria Farlow is old and ugly. And at her best she was less than a -B- actress.
What is that? A -C- actress??
