Taiwan to help China build 128 schools in quake-hit region

Taipei - Taiwan residents and businesses are to help build 128 primary schools in China's Sichuan Province which was hit by a powerful earthquake on May 12, the Central News Agency (CNA) said Thursday.
The donation, worth around 64 million reminbi (9.2 million US dollars), was announced at a concert held Thursday evening in Beijing by China's Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Strait.
The schools are to be known as Hope Schools. The biggest single contribution came from Taiwan computer chip tycoon Robert Tsao who has adopted 40 Hope Schools.
