Thai police keep a close eye on nude Chinese fundraiser
Jun 29, 2008, 3:39 GMT
Bangkok - Thai police are keeping a close eye on the nude photos of Xiao Yun, a 19-year-old Chinese girl who has allegedly been using her enticing website to raise funds for Sichuan earthquake victims, media reports said Sunday.
Xiao Yun, who claims to be a Sichuan native supposedly living in Beijing, has caused an Internet stir by posting pictures of herself in various stages of undress to raise funds for earthquake victims.
The higher the charity, the more of Xiao Yun you get to see, according to her website.
But in Thailand, where the distribution of nude pictures on the Internet is a crime subject to five years in jail and/or a fine of 100,000 baht (3,300 dollars), the Economic and Technology-related Crime Suppression Division is closely monitoring Xiao Yun's website strictly for legal reasons, said the Bangkok Post newspaper.
If Thai-based websites duplicate her pictures they will be punishable by law, warned inspector Police Lieutenant Colonel Panya Cha-emthes.
